Buying a Nokia phone is a great decision. Nokia is famous for producing hand sets that are not only fast and sleek, but reliable and robust as well. One of the great things about Nokia mobile phone models is that there is such a variety of choice. From touch screens to flip phones, Nokia makes them all, meaning that there’s something on the market for everyone. Plus, of course, given how big an investment buying a new cell phone is for most people, Nokia comes at a vast range of prices, from top of the range models to budget devices. But one thing that many Nokia owners don’t take advantage of is the Nokia PC Suite.
What is Nokia’s PC Suite?
PC Suite is a Nokia software that can be downloaded from the Nokia web site. It no longer comes on a CD with a new phone, you must physically download it from the site. However, it is an excellent programme, that performs full back ups of your phone. Every time you plug your phone into your PC, the PC Suite backs up all the data on your device, including contact lists, photos, movies, and anything else on your phone. So if you lose your phone, you don’t lose all your precious data. The other handy thing that PC Suite does is that it allows you to download onto your PC first and later transfers the game, app, ringtone, or video onto your phone. This is a good idea, because PCs tend to have much better anti-virus software than phones do, making them more suitable for downloading from unknown sources. There’s more chance that your PC will find and delete a virus with no harm done than that your phone will do the same.
What Do I Need?
It’s actually pretty simple. All you need to do is visit the Nokia web site and download the appropriate software version for your PC. Install the software, after which you may or may not be required to restart your computer. Then open the programme, plug in your phone and you’re ready to go. It’s easy to use (to back up your phone, simply hit the button that says “back up phone” and the programme does all the work for you). You need a micro USB cable (which should come with your phone, if you need a new one they’re cheap and easy to get from an electronics shop). You also need a phone that’s capable of accepting a micro USB cable, fortunately all new Nokia models can, and most older versions can as well. And that’s all.
Why Do I Need It?
You need it for safety. It will prevent your phone getting a virus, which is perfectly possible. And, of course, it will keep all your phone’s data in one place. Should your phone get lost or stolen, or if you decide to upgrade and buy a new phone, all you have to do is plug your new Nokia into your PC, and the software will put all the info your need (such as all your telephone numbers) onto the new phone. This only works if your new phone is also a Nokia so be aware of that.
